At Licores Sinc we want to introduce you to our Serpis Classic 65 Absinthe and some of the many secrets that this complex and delicious absinthe holds, the one with the highest alcohol content in our range of absinthes.
Made according to the traditional formula, Classic 65% absinthe is considered one of the most complex on the international market due to its high thujone content. Thujone is an essential oil found in wormwood.
Wormwood, or Artemisia absinthium, which has been valued for its medicinal properties since ancient times and is also called “holy herb,” is native to the temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and North Africa. It has been called the “mother of all herbs” due to its many healing properties. Among many other uses, it was employed as a stomach tonic, an antiseptic, and even an aphrodisiac.
Another plant that makes up Serpis Classic Absinthe is fennel, which typically grows wild along the Mediterranean coast. It is a perennial and highly aromatic herb, cultivated for culinary use. It also has diuretic and carminative properties, and is an excellent remedy for tired eyes and conjunctivitis. Finally, anise is an herb native to Southwest Asia and the eastern Mediterranean basin. Distillation of its seeds releases a volatile oil used in the treatment of digestive disorders.
Serpis Classic 65% absinthe has an intense and complex flavor, making it suitable for drinking neat, with water, or in slushies. However, the most appropriate way to enjoy it remains through the traditional ritual: a perforated spoon with a sugar cube on top, pouring the absinthe into the sugar cube, then setting it alight and finally pouring cold water to taste through the spoon to dilute the absinthe.
As you can see, Serpis Classic 65% Absinthe is not just any spirit, but one of the most distinctive within our extensive range. It’s a drink that leaves no one indifferent. A true inspiration to great 19th-century artists, and controversial for its effects, Serpis Classic 65% Absinthe is always a must-have.
